Karachi’s Mubarak Village is deprived of healthcare facilities. The area has only one maternity clinic. This state-run medical institution is still waiting for doctors and the paramedical staff. The government hasn’t made the necessary appointments so far. Also, no arrangements have been made to deal with emergency cases. Villagers take patients to hospitals in Karachi – which isn’t a viable option. Many critically ill patients die on their way to the hospital. Residents have highlighted this important issue several times, but no action has been taken by the authorities concerned to provide healthcare facilities in the area. Some years back, the government set up a medical store in the area. This store was later demolished for renovation. No work has been carried out to date. The government is requested to provide healthcare facilities in the area on an urgent basis.
