Islamabad: Targeting over 33 million children, a sub-national polio immunisation campaign teed off in 124 districts of Pakistan on Monday, with 223,000 frontline workers participating in the campaign.
The campaign is being conducted in 33 districts of Balochistan, 35 districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 20 districts of Punjab, 30 districts of Sindh, two districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the federal capital.
With strict adherence to Covid-19 SOPs, frontline workers will visit door-to-door to vaccinate children age 0-5 years. “Even during the pandemic, these workers ran successful campaigns,” the National Coordinator of the Polio Programme Dr. Shahzad Baig said in a press release. Dr Shahzad urged parents to play their role in making the campaign successful.
