Rawalpindi:Angry students of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) protested against physical examinations and blocked Kutchery Road here on Monday.
The DSP Civil Lines Police Station Muhammad Ijaz negotiated with protesters and requested to open the road for traffic. The protesters staged ‘sit-in’ in front of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) and demanded to take online examinations.
The protesters carried banners and placards in their hands raising slogans against government. They were also raising slogans against commissioner and deputy commissioner, Rawalpindi.
The students gathered outside the varsity and protested against the government's decision of holding physical exams. "Throughout the year, we took classes online," the students said, "so exams should be conducted online too. They also said that instead of taking online classes, the teachers posted two-hour-long videos on social media. "We had to figure everything out from that clip, all by ourselves."
The students complained that initially, the varsity announced that online exams will be conducted. "Now two weeks before the assessment, they have released the date sheet for physical exams without consulting any of the students." How we could clear all papers in this situation, the students said.
The angry protesters warned that they will only end the protests if the university management assures them of lenient marking, online exams and delay in the exams. The whole world is promoting students in next classes but here in the country, our government taking physical exams, the students denounced.
