Sindh Rangers chief lauds SSU’s high professionalism

The DG Rangers Sindh, Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhary, visited the Special Security Unit Headquarters where he was welcomed by DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed and other senior police officers on Friday.

He was presented with a guard of honour by a special contingent of the SSU commandos.

The chief of the paramilitary force, accompanied by DIG Ahmed, visited armoury, firing range and different sections of the SSU, and appreciated the professional administration and management of the SSU.

DIG Ahmed briefed the DG Rangers about the different sections of the Special Security Unit and the establishment of a Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T), first-ever in the country, comprising highly trained commandos and lady commandos equipped with modern tactical weapons, capable to challenge any emergency situation, round the clock.

The Pakistan Army was also providing training to enhance the professional techniques of commandos, including women commandos, at its different training institutes, he said.

DIG Ahmed briefed the Rangers chief about the improved and revamped structure of Police Madadgar-15. Having increased the manpower and changes on administrative level, the response time of Madadgar-15 had been reduced to 7-10 from 30-40 minutes in any emergency situation, he added.

Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhary lauded the SSU’s high professionalism in administrative, security and counter-terrorism functions and announced the holding of joint exercises for Rangers and SSU male and female personnel.

He added that with the combined efforts of the Rangers and the police, they were able to restore peace and law and order in the city. He desired the continuation of such efforts.

The DG Rangers also witnessed a drill conducted by the commandos of the Special Weapons and Tactics Tea to deal with any hostile situation.

Later, the DG Rangers and the DIG Security & Emergency Services Division exchanged souvenirs.
