Islamabad : Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mahmood on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs300 million to state-run television channel as payment for its educational channel, TeleSchool.
Amir Manzoor, Managing Director of the state run television channel received the cheque.
The minister said the state-run TV had played its role well in continuing the process of education in difficult circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic for which the ministry was grateful to it.
During the closure of schools due to the coronavirus outbreak last year, the Federal Ministry of Education launched the TeleSchool on an emergency basis to ensure the continued learning of students across the country.
The initiative is not only benefitting the students up to higher secondary education level but the out-of-school children are also availing themselves of it.
Besides, this channel is also playing an important role for basic literacy and adult education.
TeleSchool broadcasts video lessons based on English, Math, Urdu, Science and General Knowledge for students in grades one through twelve every day from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Education minister Shafqat Mahmood said TeleSchool would continue even after the epidemic was over.
