The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) conducted a night-time anti-encroachment operation District South’s Jodia Bazaar on Friday.
According to details shared by KMC senior director Bashir Siddiqui, the operation was carried out in the Jodia Bazaar, Boltan Market, Masala Market and the adjoining areas. Several machines placed on roads and footpaths were removed, as were stoves, gas cylinders, chairs and tables of several hotels. Naan shops and tea kiosks were also removed and confiscated by the corporation’s anti-encroachment team.
Deputy Director Iftikhar Siddiqui supervised the operation along with a heavy contingent of police. On Thursday, another anti-encroachment operation was carried out near the Civil Hospital.
Siddiqui said that encroachments in the Bohra Pir area, Jama Cloth Market, were razed. Several makeshift shops on footpaths and roads were also brought down. Iftikhar supervised the operation. In District Keamari, illegal structures were razed near New Truck Stand. The KMC’s anti-encroachment team removed shutters, shelters, grills, walls and sunshades protruding illegally onto footpaths and roads.
