3 die of corona from Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi : As many as 120 new patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while the virus has claimed another three lives from the region, all from Rawalpindi district that has taken death toll from the region to 1,737.

It is important that the positivity rate of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi remained below three per cent in the last 24 hours. Out of 1098 samples tested for the infection, 31 turned out to be positive at a positivity rate of 2.82 per cent.

The population in the federal capital witnessed a day without reporting of COVID-19 death on Thursday after nine days. To date, as many as 763 patients have died of the illness from ICT and 974 from Rawalpindi. Data collected by ‘The News’ on Thursday has revealed that the total number of patients so far reported from the twin cities has reached 105,800 while the number of active cases from the region has been recorded as 4,635. To date, a total of 99,428 patients from the twin cities have recovered from the illness.

In the last 24 hours, another 31 patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district taking the tally to 24,354 of which 22,943 patients have recovered. As many as 33 confirmed patients from the district were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 404 patients were in home isolation on Thursday.

District Health Officer ICT Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia informed ‘The News’ that they have organized a vaccination camp at an educational institute in sector H-12 as the school staff is being prioritized for vaccination. In a message, he said COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. “The vaccines cannot make you sick with COVID-19.”
