Islamabad : The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) has deputed fifty staff members for patrolling who would keep vigil round-the-clock over the areas falling in the vicinity of Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP),

According to the details, these staff members would fully coordinate with all the policemen who have been performing their duties for protection of MHNP in line with the directives of the Islamabad District Administration.

The patrolling during the night would be difficult work due to which IWMB has equipped the staff members with the latest gadgets and devices that would not only help

them do their work efficiently but also ensure their own security in the forest areas.

It is pertinent to mention here that despite consistent efforts by IWMB the fire incidents in MHNP are still on the rise and mainly visitors are often blamed for them due to their careless attitude.

An official informed that the IWMB has constituted a special team that is probing into the recent fire incidents to find out real factors and make recommendations to thwart them in the future.

“It is necessary to ascertain the real reasons of fire incidents because it will help us make effective policies and protect forest cover in MHNP,” he said

According to the spokesman of the climate change ministry, they are also ready to extend any type of assistance to IWMB to protect and preserve forest cover in the Margalla Hills.

“The MHNP is now part of the Billion Tree Honey Initiative launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan and we will make all-out efforts to protect it with the help of relevant authorities,” he said.
