KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has welcomed the decision of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to introduce National Single Window system for the convenience of importers and exporters, a statement said on Wednesday.

The system will help traders get rid of licences, permits, and dozens of other documents, as well as reduce online registration time and fees, it added.

Speaking to a webinar, jointly organised by the Central Standing Committee on Customs, FPCCI, and FBR to create awareness on National Single Window, FPCCI President Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo said that the chamber and the business community showed perseverance in their struggle to achieve FBR’s National Single Window.

Muhammad Imran Khan Mohmand, project director of Pakistan Single Window Project, gave a detailed presentation on the subscription module and answered the questions of the participants, the statement said.

He termed the system revolutionary and promised maximum facilitation to the trade community.

Maggo said that the real test of the national single window lies in its performance to be judged based on actual reduction in costs and time-elapsed for importers and exporters.

The FBR representatives expressed hope that the Federal Cabinet would approve the draft of the National Single Window system in the upcoming week.

The FBR is planning to implement the new system in August/September 2021, it said.

The system will require only CNIC number and mobile phone number from importers and exporters to register and the registration will be complete within 24 hours. Traders would not have to go to various authorities for the resolution of their issues but various departments would be resolving their issues digitally on time.
