MULTAN: Three more coronavirus patients died at Nishtar Hospital Multan on Tuesday.
According to the hospital sources, Fazal Karim, 60, Nusrat Bibi, 35, of Multan and Talib Hussein, 73, of Khanewal, had tested positive for the virus and died at the hospital during treatment.
According to the hospital officials, some 200 confirmed and suspected coronavirus patients are getting treatment at the hospital. In Multan division 1,170 people were tested for the coronavirus and 40 tested positive for the pandemic. In Multan district some 35 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of 338 ones. No test was performed in Khanewal and Lodhran districts.
CPO terminates 4 cops for illicit activities: City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Munir Masood Marth terminated four cops for their involvement in criminal activities on Tuesday.
The CPO heard appeals on departmental sentences at his room and approved the appeal of 13 dismissed employees and reinstated them and rejected the appeals of four dismissed employees.
All dismissed employees appeared during the Ardal Room. The restored police officers include constables Muhammad Yusuf, Abdul Hafeez, Muhammad Ehsan, Rauf Wasim, Zahid Iqbal, Abdul Waheed, Munawar Hassan, Altaf Hussain, Muhammad Sajjad, Muhammad Asif and Javed Hasnain. Constable Bilal Hussain was temporarily reinstated and ordered that he should be re-investigated.
On the occasion, CPO said Punjab Police is devoting all its resources and capabilities for public service and strict departmental accountability will continue for those who obstruct this mission.
To increase the efficiency of the police force, a zero tolerance policy on breach of discipline is being followed, he said. He said Ardal Room is also a platform for resolving legitimate issues and take steps for the welfare of police personnel where every employee can approach for resolving their issues.
He asked the reinstated cops to resume their responsibilities with a new determination.
8 shopkeepers booked over defying lockdown timing: The city district administration Tuesday booked eight shopkeepers on charges of not closing shops at 8 p.m.
The authorities imposed Rs 6,500 fine on 13 citizens who were found without face masks and also sealed a business centre over violating COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The authorities took action against Sapna Marriage Hall and Milan Marriage Hall and imposed Rs 50,000 fine upon the administration of the marriage halls for violating coronavirus SOPs.
The authorities also impounded five buses for ignoring safety precautions against coronavirus and imposed Rs 15,000 fine on the owners.
Two drug peddlers held: Multan police Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered over two kilogram of hashish besides non-custom-paid items in an operation here on Tuesday.The police and customs officials intercepted their car near Bilal Chowk and recovered the narcotics and non-custom-paid cigarettes and other items. The accused are identified as Jannat Gul of Kot Rabnawaz and Musa Kaleem of Saryab road, Quetta.
Meanwhile, Qutabpur police arrested accused Shoaib from Naag Shah Chowk and recovered narcotics from his possession.
