Concerns growing for journalists, media houses safety: HRCP
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Hina Jilani has said that concerns were growing for the safety of journalists and media outlets.
Addressing a press conference here, she said that journalism is still alive and those who do not have to learn a lesson do not learn.
She questioned if it was not anyone’s fault if a journalist dies or is tortured. Now the rights of journalists will be discussed in the Parliament, she remarked.
She further said that everyone was watching what was happening to journalists in Pakistan. She said that effective laws should be enacted for the protection of journalists and the struggle in this regard to continue.
Hina Jilani said that when we talk about the state institutions, the Parliament was the state.
She said that PFUJ and Pakistan Bar Council stand by us and if the State wants to make itself strong it should give protection to the journalists.
