PESHAWAR: The opposition parties on Tuesday urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to reverse the decision of shifting the Karak Oil Refinery to Kohat.
The demand was made during a joint press conference by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial general secretary Rahmat Salam Khattak, Mian Nisar Gul of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Sharif Khattak of the Awami National Party (ANP) at the Peshawar Press Club.
They criticised the alleged shifting of the Oil Refinery from Krapa in Karak to Khushal Garh in Kohat. They said Krapa was situated near-by area where from the oil and gas reserves had been found while the distance between the reservoir site and Khushal Garh was more than 100 kilometers. “The laying of the pipeline for taking the oil and gas to Khushal Garh would cost extra-resources and funds,” said Rahmat Salam
They alleged that the KP government, some influential elements and bureaucrats were conspiring to build the oil refinery in Kohat. They vowed to resist the decision and launch a protest campaign if the government didn’t reverse the decision.
