Says new master plan to be prepared for systematic development of Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: A new master plan will be prepared for the systematic, coordinated and futuristic development of Faisalabad, said Faisalabad Development Authority Chairman and MPA Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad.
Addressing the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Sunday, he said that the issue to remove departmental hurdles in construction of schools and health institutions in residential schemes would soon be raised in the Punjab Assembly. He said that special emphasis was being given on construction of link roads for smooth and efficient connectivity between different parts of the city. In this connection, a proposal was under consideration to construct a road from Jaranwala to Satiana Road along an existing watercourse. The most critical project of Jhal Khanuanna flyover was under construction and it was expected to be completed in the next two months, he added. He said that the federal government had decided to construct a new state-of-the-art airport near Chak Jhumra. He said that potable water would be provided to each housing unit of the city by 2017. He said that the Parks and Horticulture Agency (PHA) had been upgraded to the full-fledged authority for the systematic plantation of the city. He said that a new Haseeb Shaheed General Hospital would be completed at a cost of Rs 2 billion. To a question regarding FDA City, he said that all the basic facilities, including electricity, had been provided to its two blocks. He said that the Wasa Faisalabad was the first agency of Punjab that had introduced bottled water and now other agencies of the province were replicating it in their respective cities. He said that a commercial plaza had been proposed in Gulistan Colony and its foundation stone would be laid in the next couple of months.
Speaking on the occasion, FDA DG Yawar Hussain said that the consultant had been appointed for preparation of the master plan. He said that facilities had been provided to the FDA city and now industrialists should start immediate construction of their factory outlets to make it attractive picnic-cum-shopping spot.
