Film festival ends
LAHORE
The Rafi Peer International Film Festival ended on Saturday on a super high note as the discussion session and screening of Manto had the halls packed beyond capacity while hundreds waited outside for a chance to get in.
After treating its audiences to three days of non-stop aesthetic gratification, it would be safe to say that the festival delivered what it promised. While a range of avant-garde critically acclaimed international films screened at the festival gave the audience a unique opportunity to grow their perception of film-making beyond the commercial cinema, the immaculate discussion and critical analysis by learned guests provided an impetus for inspiration and art appreciation.
It is virtually impossible to put into words the tremendous effort put into making this event possible, said Faizan Pirzada. From arranging the finances to overcoming the inertia to visas for foreign guests, defeating the culture of fear, it was all one mammoth exercise.
However, the tremendous success of the event has made it all worth every single second.
He lauded the government for its cooperation despite the hiccups in providing security on Day two. The prime minister and the chief minister have a wonderful vision for promotion of art and culture, however, there are certain individuals in government ranks who create hurdles to the execution of the vision, he commented.
Every single attendees of the festival had all good things to say about the event ad were of the view that more of such events should be organised.
