PML-F activists stage demonstration in Sanghar
Registration of FIR against party MPA
SUKKUR: Thousands of PML-F activists in Sanghar staged a protest at the police station there against the arrest of their workers as well as registration of an FIR against a party MPA, Waryam Faqir, over the Sanghar incident.
The protesters said that the police “illegally” registered an FIR against 37 PML-F activists, including the MPA, and they illegally arrested many party workers and searched their houses.
The protesters said that the Sanghar incident in which four people died was a terrible thing, and the PML-F sympathised with the heirs of the people killed in that incident. However, they said that the police had been pursuing the case unfairly.
They said that the registration of the case was a politically motivated act with the aim of victimising the PML-F.
They said they had lost 13 of their party men on the polling day in Daraza in October, but despite being a victim of violence the PML-F activists kept their cool and extended full cooperation to the police in the inquiry.
They alleged that the police were harassing them over the Sanghar incident.
A PML-F leader, Kashif Nizamani, addressing a protest rally at the Sanghar Press Club, demanded a fair inquiry into the Sanghar incident.
He also demanded dismissal of Sanghar SSP. Reports from Sanghar said that owing to the protest, fear gripped the area and traders closed their shops.
