PHF promised financial support
KARACHI: PHF president Khalid Khokhar and secretary Shahbaz Ahmed spent a busy day in Karachi and met NBP president and Korangi Association of Trade and Industry’s (KATI) chairman, seeking sponsorship for the national championship which is going to be held in Karachi later this month at HCP.
Informed sources said that the meeting were held in a cordial environment and PHF bosses appreciated the NBP’s role in the development of sports.
The sources said that PHF president and secretary told NBP president Ahmed Iqbal Ashraf that the national game was passing through a tough period and it was time the successful financial institutions came forward to lift it.
The PHF high ups informed the NBP president that the national championship was going to held in Karachi at HCP where a new blue turf has been laid. They said that PHF was seeking financial help and sponsorship for the national championship and the maintenance of the blue turf so that it may last long.
The PHF, however, did not ask any specific amount.
The sources said the NBP president assured the PHF bosses that the bank would provide as much financial help as was possible for the national championship.
The PHF chiefs said that a blue turf had been laid at HCP which would be used in the national championship and that an RO plant was being installed to maintain the blue turf in a good condition.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) officials of NBP were also present in the meeting.
Khokhar told ‘The News’ after the meeting that NBP had assured PHF of help for the national championship. PHF secretary Shahbaz reached HCP in the evening and reviewed the blue turf project and expressed his satisfaction on the pace of the work. The PHF high officials also met the KATI chairman. The details of the meeting could not be ascertained as the meeting was continuing when this report was filed.
