2 passersby killed in shootout
LAHORE
A man and a woman were killed in a shootout between two parties in the jurisdiction of Defence A police station on Friday.The victims happened to be passersby were identified as Haji Yousaf and Shamim Bibi. As per preliminary information, the members of Osama and Kami groups opened fire on each other when two passersby came under firing range and sustained fatal wounds. Both the opponent parties fled the scene. The injured Haji Yousaf and Shamim Bibi were taken to hospital where they died. Police shifted the bodies to morgue. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
TRUCK KILLS YOUTH: A 25-year-old youth was killed by a speeding truck in the Sattukatla area on Friday.The victim was identified as Kashif of Bagrian, Green Town. The victim Kashif was on his way on a bike when a rashly-driven truck ran over him near Wapda roundabout. As a result, he received fatal injuries. The passersby caught the truck driver who was later identified as Zia-ur-Rehman. The injured Kashif was rushed to hospital where he died. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a case against the truck driver.
Tainted food claims life: A 21-year-old youth died and his colleague fainted after consuming tainted food at a hotel in the Model Town area on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Arsalan while his colleague identified as Aqib was admitted to hospital where his condition was said to be critical. On the day of the incident, both Arsalan and Aqib came to the residence of their employer Abdullah, a showroom owner, in Model Town after eating some food from a local hotel. Both fell unconscious shortly after their arrival at the residence of their employer. Both the persons were rushed to hospital where Arsalan expired. Police shifted the body to morgue.
FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Tibbi City police station on Friday.Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict, who might have injected himself an overdose of sedatives, resulting into his death. Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man was recovered dead from the limits of Mughalpura police station. Police suspected that the man, yet to be identified, might have died of some medical complications. Bodies were shifted to morgue.
INJURED: A rickshaw driver and five school going children received injuries when the speeding motorcycle rickshaw overturned in the Shahdara area on Friday.Upon being informed, the injured rickshaw driver identified as Amir and children namely Fahad, Moon, Zeeshan and Samra and Javed were rushed to hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger.
DISMISSED: CTO Lahore dismissed two traffic wardens from service for being continuously absent from duty. The dismissed wardens were identified as Ali Raza and Kafeel Shabbir.Meanwhile, CTO held a meeting with traffic wardens to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the construction of Orange Line Metro Train project. He said that the wardens performing outstanding duty would be given cash prize of Rs10,000. He said that modern masks and jackets had been provided to the wardens to protect themselves from dust and cold weather. At least 600 cones had been provided to the construction areas of the project to further improve the flow of traffic, he added.
