US deputy secretary of state calls on COAS

RAWALPINDI: Deputy Secretary of State of the United States Antony J Blinken called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif here at the General Headquarters on Thursday.

During the meeting, both the dignitaries discussed matters related to security challenges and reiterated the need for the early resumption of the reconciliation process to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan, which is so critical for stability in the region, the ISPR said.

The US deputy secretary acknowledged the sacrifices and appreciated the efforts by the Pakistani security forces for peace and stability in the region.US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale and the United States Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) Richard G Olson were also present during the meeting.
