NOWSHERA: Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak said on Wednesday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government did not face any threat from the opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

Talking to the media here, he came down hard on the PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and accused him of conspiring against opponents.

He was happy with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership for refusing to become a part of the agitation politics and said he had already stated earlier that PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari was against confrontational politics.

Pervez Khattak alleged that the PDM was an unnatural alliance and its leaders were paying only lip- service to democracy.

He was critical of PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and accused him of resorting to undemocratic methods to dislodge a constitutionally elected PTI government.

The federal minister said Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan Muslim League-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif were out of the elected assembles and thus were impeding the system of governance.

He defended the graft cases which the opposition parties leaders were facing in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

“The PPP and PML-N during their respective rules had instituted these cases against each other and they should now face the consequences,” he added.

Opposing the opposition’s movement against the PTI government, Pervez Khattak said the people had elected the present government for a five-year-term and hoped it would complete its tenure.

The federal minister flayed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman for allegedly launching a tirade against the state institutions and asked them to quit the practice as that would benefit the enemies of the country.
