MANSEHRA: The people of Oghi, Pulrah and Darband on Wednesday took to the streets against the prolonged power outage and demanded the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to restore electricity, which was suspended with the start of rains in most parts of the district three days back.

The people of Pulrah, who took to streets against the blockade of the power, raised slogans against the Pesco.

The protesters, who assembled at the main bazaar, said that because of the faulty and outdated lines, the electricity used to trip frequently but they were without power since Sunday.

Bukhtar Tanoli, speaking on the occasion, said that the Pesco had failed to restore the electricity and people were suffering the brunt of it. The traders also held a protest against the prolonged power outage in the Oghi and its suburbs.

“Around 20 hours had passed since the power breakdown in the Oghi and suburbs but Pesco miserably failed to restore it,” Sarbuland Khan, the president of traders body said.

He said that traders were suffering the brunt of the prolonged power outage and if the electricity was not restored shortly they would decide the future line of action.

“We warn Pesco to mend its way and restore the electricity without any further delay otherwise we would be left with no other option but to observe a shutter down strike against it,” he said.

The people also took to streets in the Darband area demanding an immediate restoration of the electricity.
