More areas brought under smart lockdown in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration on Wednesday brought several areas under smart lockdown to control transmission of Covid-19.
The district administration as per recommendations of the health department announced ‘controlled entry and exit’ of certain localities in the city owing to fear of transmission of the viral infection to other places.
The areas brought under the smart lockdown or “controlled entry and exiit” are: Street No. 11, Shami Road, Peshawar Cantt, Street No. 1 & 12, Defence Colony, Peshawar Cantt, Street No. 21, Sector D-4, Phase-I, Hayatabad, Street No. 2, Sector J-4, Phase-II, Hayatabad, Street No. 2, Sector J-2, Phase-II, Hayatabad, Street No. 4, Sector K-1, Phase-III, Hayatabad, Street No. 2, Sector K-1, Phase-III, Hayatabad, Street No. 11, Sector-P-2, Phase-IV, Hayatabad, Street No. 5, Sector F-3, Phase-VI, Hayatabad, Street No.
15 Sector F-9, Phase-VI, Hayatabad, Street No. 24, Sector F-10, Phase-VI, Hayatabad, Street No. 03, Sector D, Al-Haram Model Town, Hayatabad, Street A, Kabapyan area, Warsak Road, Block 06-1-3, Park View Apartment, Canal Road, Warsak Road, Street No. 1, Doctor Colony, Darmangi Garden, Warsak Road, Street No. 13, Officers Garden Colony, Warsak Road, Street No. 5, Ashrafia Colony, Faqirabad, Street No. 2, Old Shami Road, Jehangirabad, Tehkal Bala. Sajid Khan, a spokesman for the district administration, told The News that the notification shall take effect from 18:00 Hrs on March 25, 2021 and shall remain in force till further orders.
He said that no general entry or exit to these localities by any person, except those supplying essential commodities, shall be allowed. All types of gatherings within these localities are strictly prohibited while shops other than those of essential services (pharmacies, general stores, food supplies, tandoors, drinking water supplies, emergency, etc) shall remain closed. He said congregation in mosques shall be restricted to five persons only.
The concerned Magistrates-in-Charge/AAC, and Divisional/Sub-Divisional Police Officers have to ensure the implementation of this order. The district health officer has been directed to ensure provision of health services in these localities.
“Anyone contravening the above directions shall render himself liable to be proceeded against under Sections 17 and 18 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Epidemic Control & Emergency Relief Act 2020, and/or Section 33,” the district administration stated in an official statement issued to the media.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lost eight more people to the coronavirus and recorded 583 positive cases. Also, the officials of the three tertiary care hospitals stated that there was no more space in their respective hospitals for corona patients on Wednesday. Covid patients referred to Peshawar from the peripheries have been facing problems to find beds in the intensive care unit or high dependency unit of any of these three hospitals in the provincial capital.
In KP, Peshawar has lost more people than any other place against the coronavirus. There was an unprecedented rush of people in the markets after two days of lockdown, Saturday and Sunday, and then two days of heavy rain.
