Affectees stage demo after 150 houses demolished

FAISALABAD: Residents of Chak 153/RB, Chak Jhumra, on Wednesday staged a demonstration against the district administration for demolishing their 150 houses falling under the Canal Expressway project without issuing any prior notice.
The affectees blocked Sangla Hills-Chak Jhumra Road for three hours to register their protest. They were chanting slogans against the district administration. They demanded alternative land for rebuilding of their houses or an adequate compensation. They appealed to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to direct the authorities concerned for immediate compensation to the affected families and also arrange temporary houses for them.
BOY ABDUCTED: A boy was abducted for ransom here on Wednesday.
Osama Abbas of Mohallah Sharifpura was on his way when unidentified people abducted him. Later, the kidnappers contacted abductee’s father Muhammad Abbas and demanded Rs 1 million ransom in two days. Police have started investigation.

FAISALABAD: A woman, her two daughters and a son were abducted by unidentified people at Railways Colony.
The unidentified people entered the house of Abdul Saleem Khokhar and abducted his wife and three children. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
