Rs4 bn drinking water projects launched in Punjab

LAHORE: Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said work on projects worth more than Rs4 billion under Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority has initiated, adding full transparency will be ensured and corruption of not even a single rupee will be tolerated at any level.

Filtration plants will also be installed by Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority in constituencies of opposition parties without any political discrimination. He was addressing an event on the occasion of World Water Day at Governor House here on Monday and talking to the media.

Talking to the media, the governor said that Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority has set up its first plant in Chak Jhumra. The MPA of that constituency is from PML N whereas MNA is from PTI, it is telling evidence that there are no vested interests in the execution of PAPA projects and complete transparency is being ensured.

About coronavirus, the governor said the third wave of Corona is very dangerous and the opposition parties should also give priority to the safety of the lives of the people and in these circumstances, any kind of political activity can result in a spike in coronavirus cases.

Addressing the event, Syed Ehsanullah Waqas, Chairman of Al-Khidmat Foundation, said, “We are working all over Pakistan for clean drinking water adding that there are still many areas in Pakistan where people do not have access to water, let alone clean drinking water.”

Chairperson Sarwar Foundation Begum Perveen Sarwar said Sarwar Foundation is the largest NGO in Pakistan that is providing free drinking water to the masses, adding ‘we are providing clean drinking water to more than 2.5 million people daily.’

In his message on Pakistan Day, the governor said today every Pakistani should pledge that ‘we as Pakistanis should play our role, individually and collectively, for the development of the country in line with the Quaid’s golden principles of faith, unity and discipline.’
