CHAMAN/SUKKUR: At least three people were killed in a roadside blast in Balochistan’s Chaman city, police said on Tuesday. The police said the blast occurred on the Taj Road when explosives planted on a motorbike were detonated. Twelve people were injured in the incident. They were shifted to hospital. Of the injured persons, five were said to be in critical condition. Contingents of police and security forces surrounded the area and placed a security cordon. The bomb disposal squad was sweeping the area and a search was on to arrest the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, five people, including two Rangers personnel, were injured in an explosion in Khairpur on Tuesday. Police sources said the blast occured near the Rangers vehicle parked on the Mall Road in Khairpur, injuring two Rangers personnel, identified as Imran, 40, s/o Altaf Hussain Awan, and Amjad Ali, 35, s/o Qurban Ali Bhatti, besides three civilians, including Vijay Kumar, Tariq Phulphoto and a rickshaw driver Riaz Lashari.
Following the blast, personnel of law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area to investigate the incident. A team of the Bomb Disposal Squad also reached the blast site and revealed that a hand grenade was used in the attack.
