LAHORE: Acting US Consul General Barry Juncker called on the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz at the PML-N Central Secretariat in Model Town
Monday.
Party sources said both discussed in detail several issues of mutual interests including domestic and regional political situation, upcoming elections, Pak-US relations under the new administration, the situation in the region relating to Pakistan and India. The meeting lasted for about two hours.
Later talking to media, Hamza said despite every effort of incompetent rulers, the PML-N was united under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. “The day of reckoning is coming soon for the real new Pakistan,” he added. He also condemned the continuous increase in the prices of flour, sugar, electricity, gas and petrol. “The country’s economy is in the shambles,” he said, adding the country was given into the hands of clumsy and confused rulers. He said the general public was suffering due to the incompetence of these selected rulers.
“InshAllah, the night of oppression is about to end and very soon real democracy will flourish in the country under the leadership of PML-N,” Hamza said and maintained that the government has become hollow. He said he wanted to say with confidence that when the story of Pakistan’s sinking economy will be written, Imran Khan and his nexus with the NAB will be at the top. “I am not worried about my case or the arrest by the NAB, but I am worried about the common man whose children are starving. I cry over the helplessness of the poor man,” he concluded.
