LG funds to be released without any discrimination: Sana
Says elections of district council, municipal corporation heads to be completed
by next month; Dharna politics has lowered PTI image

FAISALABAD: Elections of the district council and municipal corporation heads will be completed by January 2016, said Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, he said that the local government funds in the province would be released without any discrimination after induction of mayors and deputy mayors of the municipal corporations and chairmen and vice-chairmen of the district councils, enabling them to carry out projects for benefit of the masses. He expressed satisfaction over almost peaceful LG elections in Punjab and Sindh provinces. He said: “We accept mandate of all parties, including MQM and PTI.” He advised PTI chief Imran Khan to abandon the politics of Dharna, which had considerably decreased the image of his party in eyes of the general public. He said that Imran Khan should now start thinking positively instead of wasting his time in such unwarranted practices. He also asked Imran to devotedly work for improvement of his party and start preparations for contesting the 2018 general elections.
To a question about MQM chief Altaf Hussain, the law minister said that the MQM and other political parties were indeed pro-Pakistan but if any of their leaders becomes hostile to the country, they should hold him accountable and expel him from their party. He said that a provision already existed in the law to deal with such elements legally. Meanwhile, addressing a prize distribution ceremony at the Government Postgraduate College for Science, Samanabad, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said that the provincial government had introduced revolutionary policies to promote education and strength the sector. He said that establishment of the Punjab Education Endowment Fund was a significant step of the government to provide financial aid to the talented deserving students so that they could continue their studies. Now, the endowment fund had been reached to the tune of Rs 14 billion and more than 100,000 students were receiving benefits, he added.
The minister congratulated the position holders and said that they were pride of the nation. He said that the government was encouraging such talented and promising students to motivate them for taking forward steps in the field of education. He said that education was a way success and the present government had focused its attention on providing all-out facilities to the students in educational institutions. He underlined the significance and importance of the Danish School System and said that the talented children belonging to the downtrodden were being provided opportunities of quality education as per the standard of Aitcheson College in backward areas of the province. The minister urged the teachers to discharge their duties with passion and commitment. He said that the problems being faced the college would be solved. Director Colleges Rana Munawar Khan, Principal Nazar Latif, Vice-Principal Dr Muhammad Qasim and others were also present on the occasion.
