PHF appoints officials for national championship

KARACHI: The PHF has appointed a panel of technical officials for the smooth conduct of National Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Karachi at HCP from December 25 to January 10.
Olympian Qamar Ibrahim is the tournament director, while Khizar Nawaz Bajwa will be the assistant tournament director.
The organising secretary of the championship will be KHA secretary Farooq Khan.
Informed sources said that next week PHF high officials, including president Brig (rtd) Khalid Khokhar and secretary Shahbaz Ahmed, could visit Karachi to review the preparations for the championship and formally announce the details of the event.
The sources said that PHF had appointed five tournament officers: Ansar Mahmood (Gujrat), Muhammad Yaqoob (Lahore), Muhammad Akram (Karachi), Shafique Bhatti (Lahore) and Dr Majid (Karachi).
The sources also confirmed that PHF had appointed 22 judges and 22 umpires for the event.
PHF is waiting for the completion of the blue turf project, which is likely by the mid of this month. The panel of judges comprises Rafiq Khan (Lahore), Allah Dad (Jhang), Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Faisalabad), Ikram ul Haq (Nankana), Haroon Saeed (DG Khan), Javed Sadiq (MFPCO), Zaheer Ahmed (Rawalpindi), Muhammad Zahid (Rawalpindi), Shahid Rabbani (NTDC), M Rauf (Steel Mills), Muhammad Khalid (PIA), Nadeem Khan (Faisalabad), Ijaz (Faisalabad) Abdul Rahim (Quetta), Muhammad Ahsan (Quetta), Nadeem Saeed (Karachi), Rana M Afzal (Bahawalpur), Manzoor Hussain (Quetta), Laeeq Lashari (Karachi), Mubashar Mukhtar (Karachi), Asif Hayat (Karachi), Akhtar Ali (Hyderabad) and Hasan Askari (Nawabshah).
The Umpires Manger is Faiz Muhammad (Peshawar), who will be assisted by Saeed Ahmad and Mohsin Ali Khan of Karachi.
