Khursheed Shah urges PM, CMs to honour martyrs of APS

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has written to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Balochistan, urging them to organise annual events and construct museums and libraries in Islamabad and provincial headquarters in the memory of martyrs of Pakistan, in particular martyrs of Army Public School, Peshawar.
Shah stated that he had recently visited Peshawar and met with the families of the martyrs of Army Public School. “It was one of the most tragic incidents and 16th December, 2014 will always be remembered as a black day in the history of Pakistan,” he stated.
However he highly appreciated the efforts carried out by all stakeholders especially Pakistan Army to eliminate terrorists and terrorism from the country. The Opposition leader said during meeting, families of the martyrs expressed their desire that a special status may be given to this day and annually events may be organised across Pakistan in remembrance of this national tragedy.
Syed Khursheed Shah proposed in a letter that other than that a museum and library may be built in Islamabad and each provincial headquarter in memory of the martyrs of Pakistan who lost their lives in fight against terrorism in particular with reference to this incident.
“I am fully content with these ideas and recommend their ideas/proposal for appropriate action at your level,” he stated in the letters addressed to the prime minister and all the four chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
