Strict security for today’s LG polls From Our Correspondent BAHAWALPUR: All preparations are finalised to hold local government phase three elections in Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts on Saturday amid strict security. According to RPO Ehsan Sadiq some 24,023 police personnel are deployed for 2,807 polling stations in Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts. He said 8 companies of Pakistan Army and 1 company of Rangers would be on call. Till the filing of the report distribution of polling material was underway. In Bahawalpur district total 1,255 polling stations and 3,695 polling booths have been established for 1,628,686 voters UC CHAIRMAN SLOT CANDIDATES BOOKED: Two cases were registered in the police stations Sama Satta and Baghdad ul Jadeed against UC chairman and vice chairman slots and their supporters on the charges of violating polls code of conduct. In PS Sama Satta the case was registered against Sheikh Dilshad of PML-N candidate chairman for UC Tiba Miyani and his vice chairman Shahnawaz Akhtar and their 600 supporters. Another case was registered against Malik Shah Muhammad and his vice chairman Dilshad Arain and their 350 unidentified supporters under section 188. An FIR is registered in the PS Baghdad ul Jadeed against Arshad Sanghrra and Sofi Ramzam and 20 others under the Punjab Sound system Act.
COURTS BUILDING INAUGURATED: Lahore High Court inspection judge Justice James Joseph inaugurated newly constructed buildings of two civil courts and one additional and sessions judge court in Chistian on Friday. District and Sessions judge Bahawalnagar Nisar Ahmad, judicial officers and members of Chistian tehsil bar association and Bahawalnagar bar association were also present.
