Lakki Marwat

Lakki Marwat is not so lucky. The people of the area have pulled out all the stops in their relentless efforts to get free of the Khanan/Nawab/Mullah alliance but all their efforts have failed to win them their cherished freedom. First, there are the famous Saifullah brothers with unlimited streams of wealth. Second, there is the JUI-F that keeps its coffers open to anyone who can fill them.
In this scenario, the emergence of the PTI was nothing short of miraculous. People overwhelmingly voted for the party despite immense pressure mounted by the right wing. Unfortunately, the PTI also proved itself to be like its predecessors – not in the exploitative sense, but because they too did not pay heed to the basic needs of the people. The PTI leadership seems to be focused on its own politics, and now the people are back to square one.
