PESHAWAR: Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has approved various development schemes of over Rs1,609 million for the development and prosperity of tribal region. He reiterated the pledge that the government would spare no effort to bring lasting peace and socio-economic development to this marginalised region. The governor emphasised that drastic measures would be taken for the immediate settlement and rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons (IDPs). Sardar Mahtab said that socio-economic uplift and the development of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) was the foremost priority of the government to readdress the grievances of tribespeople.An official handout said that the governor was chairing the first meeting of the Fata Development Council at the Governor’s House. Safron Additional Secretary Tariq Hayat, Additional Chief Secretary Fata Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Secretary Law and Order Fata Shakil Qadir and other relevant officials attended the meeting. A detailed briefing was given to the governor about various development schemes in Fata. During the meeting, Fata Development Council under the chairmanship of the governor approved the total development outlay of Rs1,609.455 million for various development schemes in Fata. Speaking at on the occasion, the governor said the objective of development process was to remove the sense of deprivation among the tribesmen. He said that Fata needed realistic development. The governor directed the officials to expedite work on the ongoing uplift schemes in Fata.
