Material for LG polls
227 vehicles put at disposal of ROs

JHANG: On the directions of the Election Commission of Pakistan and the government, the District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA)’s Secretary put 227 vehicles at the disposal of twenty Returning Officers (ROs) to take staff and material to conduct the local government polls scheduled on December 5.
DRTA Sectary Malik Tahir said the vehicles, including buses, mini buses and vans were at the disposal of ROs of Jhang District Council and Municipalities of Jhang, Shorkot, Ahmad Pur Sial, Garh Maharaja and 18-Hazari.
He said minimum eight and maximum 25 vehicles have been provided to each RO.
Tahir said a comprehensive transport plan chalked out and the same has been approved by the DRO that would be executed a day before of the polling day according to the approved routes of polling stations.
He said that half payment would be paid to drivers and owners of the vehicles for fuel purpose. The secretary said Pak Army’s four companies will reach in the district on December 1st and required transport facilities would also be provided to army personal for their movement during polling and remaining days.
Meanwhile, the district police have also chalked out security plan of 1,084 polling stations of the district and some 134 polling stations were declared as top sensitive, 333 in B-category and 617 mentioned in C-Category due security.
As per police security plan, armed cops would also be deployed with 20 presiding officers during transportation of polling material besides full time deployment at 1,084 polling stations.
The army personals would remain high alert as emergency force in the district to ensure peaceful atmosphere during polling day.
Addressing a special meeting of all candidates held at distract police lines on Wednesday, DPO Humayun Masood cleared them that no one would be allowed to display weapons.
