Gul clinches seniors’ tennis title

KARACHI: Gul Hameed recovered from a set down to beat Sabih Wali in the summit clash of 60-plus singles of the 24th Karachi Club Pakistan ITF Senior World Ranking Tennis Championship 2015 at Karachi Club on Thursday.
Gul lost the first set 6-7, but made a strong comeback to win the next two sets 7-5, 10-8 (7-5).
In 45-plus singles, Mirza Raza eased into the final as his opponent Imran Ahmed Siddique retired from the match at the end of their semi-final’s first set.
In juniors’ tournament, Mohammad Dada clinched the under-13 event title as he beat Farzan Ahmed by 6-2, 6-4.
In the under-11 summit clash, Mohammad Yahya overpowered Ashar Azfar by 8-2. In the under-17 final, Marib Malik defeated Nazif Ahmed by 6-3, 6-4.
