QUETTA: The Parliamentary Committee on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), led by its Chairman Senator Mushahid Husain Sayed, visited the port town Gwadar and inspected the route of the CPEC.
The committee inspected three segments of the route, including Tallar, Turbat and Hushab. It also inspected nine construction camps where the pace of work is fast progressing at a rate of 1.5 kilometres of roads per day.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Senator Mushahid Husain said the CPEC, as a corridor, has become a vital factor for uniting the Federation of Pakistan with focus on progress and prosperity of the smaller provinces, particularly Balochistan and KPK.
He praised the FWO and NHA for their work in these areas and said the CPEC has opened new opportunities for development of the remote areas of Pakistan through road connectivity.
Senator Mushahid Husain said the CPEC was above any political party, province, person or government, as it was a strategic national project, which will give priority to promoting development of the less developed regions of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan, while also benefiting Sindh, Punjab, FATA and Azad Kashmir.
The delegation of Parliamentary Committee on CPEC included Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Rana Afzal, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni, Senator Baz Muhammad Khan, Imran Leghari, Ghaus Bakhsh Mehar, Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Senator Lt Gen (retd) Salahuddin Tirmzi, Shahji Gul Afridi as well as Khalid Mahmood, the Joint Secretary of the National Assembly.
