OKARA: PML-N leader MNA Hamza Shahbaz has criticised the Dharna politicians and said that they could only delay the visit of the Chinese president for the time being but could not stop him from giving a gift of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Addressing a public gathering at Potato Society here on Wednesday, he said that the PTI faced defeat in the Lahore and Okara by-elections at the hands of the PML-N. Hamza said that the Karachiites were praying for PM Nawaz Sharif for bringing back peace to Karachi.
He disclosed that that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had confirmed the party ticket for NA-144 by-elections for Ch Riazul Haq Juj, but later it was issued to Arif Chaudhry, son of the de-seated MNA, on pressure of the local parliamentarians. He, however, said that the people of Okara rectified the mistake of the PML-N high command by electing Ch Riazul Haq Juj as the MNA in the by-elections. Hamza accepted all demands of MNA Riaz Juj and said that they would be fulfilled before the 2018 general elections.
Earlier, in his welcome address, MNA Riazul Haq Juj demanded construction of an emergency block in the DHQ Hospital, a university, construction of bypass from Faisalabad Road to Kot Bari via Chak 1/4-L and reconstruction of level crossings and underpasses between north and south city. He also demanded establishment of home economics college and boys college in the south of city, besides an industrial estate in Okara.
The MNA said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had reshaped Lahore as Paris and were introducing enormous projects for the public benefit. The MNA credited the Sharif family for spreading a network of motorways in the country and providing Okara people with metalled roads at a cost of Rs 500 million.
