‘229,612 farmers to be compensated under Kisan package’

GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Shamail Ahmed Khawaja Tuesday said some 229,612 farmers would be compensated in the division under the Prime Minister Kisan package.
Talking to reporters, Shamail said the government has allocated Rs 5,765 million for the purpose and Rs 88 million has already been distributed among the farmers. He said 19 centres have been set up in the division and all DCOs were supervising the distribution methods personally. He said in Gujranwala Rs.1591 million will be distributed among 44,663 farmers, in Sialkot 1310 million among 58,692 farmers, in Gujrat 208.97 million among 14,385 farmers, in Mandi Bahauddin Rs 695 million among 33,890 farmers, in Narowal Rs 923 million among 45,828 farmers and in Hafizabad Rs 1,038 million would be distributed among 38,154 farmers under the package.
He directed all relevant DCOs to provide all possible facility to the farmers at distribution centres.
PROTEST AGAINST POLICE: Dozens of citizens Tuesday staged a demonstration against police for not issuing NOCs to them.
The protesters were of the view that they had applied for NOC from the police department regarding travelling abroad but police officials are not issuing the same to them and they have to pay daily visit to Police Lines for the purpose. They alleged that police officials were demanding bribe. After getting assurance about issuance of NOC from concerned police officers, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
