The Bahria University, Islamabad Campus, held its 14th Convocation at the Jinnah Convention Centre here on Sunday.
Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, who was the chief guest on the occasion, conferred degrees on the graduating students of PhD, Masters and Undergraduate programmes.
In total, 427 degrees were awarded to the Undergraduate and Graduate students of Management Sciences Department, Humanities & Social Sciences Department, Computer Sciences Department, Earth & Environmental Sciences Department, Electrical Engineering Department and Software Engineering Department.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed along with Bahria University Rector Vice Admiral (r) Tanveer Faiz, HI (M), awarded 12 gold and 12 silver medals to various students who achieved top positions in their respective programmes.
Sohail Jabbar got PhD degree in Computer Sciences Department. Usman Ali, Yahya Farooq, Tayyaba Sharif, Jawad Ahmed, Asma Malik and Syed Anis ul Hassan from Management Sciences, Fatimah Mehmood and Sehrish Khan of Environmental Sciences, Nimra Tariq of Social Sciences, Mehwish Pervaiz of Software Engineering, Muhammad Majid Mubarik of Computer Sciences, and Malik Atif of Electrical Engineering received the gold medals in their respective disciplines.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed congratulated the graduating students on their splendid success and lauded the Bahria University, Islamabad Campus, for providing exceptional knowledge and skills to the students in their respective disciplines that will enable them to lead a professionally rewarding life. He also appreciated the university for its focus on key areas of developing student’s knowledge with emphasis on research and development both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He expressed pleasure to see quite a good number of graduates in varied academic disciplines being produced by Bahria University. Further the conferment of PhD degree proves that the Management of Bahria University is fully aware about the importance of research. He urged the academia to come forward with strong commitment to contribute in the nation-building process.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Vice Admiral (r) Tanveer Faiz, HI (M), expressed his gratitude to HEC Chairman Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed for his presence in the convocation. He appreciated the efforts of the Bahria University for providing the most conducive academic environment, state-of-the art laboratories and highly qualified faculty to its postgraduate and undergraduate students.
In the end, the Bahria University rector congratulated students and their parents, wishing them a prosperous future and also appreciated the students who achieved medals for their outstanding performance.
