LG polls not to bring change in society: Wajih
From Our Correspondent
BAHAWALPUR: PTI leader Justice (retd) Wajihuddin Ahmad said the local government elections would not bring any change in the society.
Addressing a seminar organised by a local NGO here on Saturday, he said no doubt the ongoing LG polls were a good development in the country, but no positive results were expected from the exercise as more than Rs 3 million were being spent on the election campaign of a general councillor. He stressed the need for concrete measures to make the LG elections common man-friendly.
Commenting on the PTI’s poor performance in the local government elections, he said one should expect such outcome when the leaders involved in the PTI intra-party polls rigging would be made party organisers.
Wajih alleged that Qabza mafia was running the party affairs. He said all recommendations made by the PTI inquiry tribunal had been ignored.
Responding to queries about his relations with PTI chairman, he said that his relations with Imran Khan were neither good nor bad. He, however, hoped improvement in relations.
Wajih lauded the NGO’s role for the promotion of education in the country. He said that under the 18th Amendment education for all was the government responsibility.
