PESHAWAR: The Doctors Action Committee on Tuesday blamed the administration of the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Peshawar, for Monday’s clash between doctors and paramedics in which seven persons had been wounded. Member Doctors Action Committee Dr Iqtidar told a press conference here, that the hostel building was the property of doctors and not paramedics. He said the new hostel had been constructed on the place of Diploma and Gynae Hostel, which had been demolished by the hospital administration to construct a new one for doctors.“But the hospital administration allotted the hostel to paramedics that created the misunderstanding,” he added He said the ladies and trainee doctors lacked accommodation facility. They had requested the hospital administration to open the newly constructed hostel to doctors. He claimed that the doctors had been shifted to the hostel on the permission of the director LRH. The young doctor alleged that the paramedics carrying sticks, stones and weapons attacked the doctors and injured seven doctors. He said the police present on the spot didn’t make any effort to prevent the clash. He asked the provincial government to change the hospital administration, suspend the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) security at the LRH, allot the disputed hostel to doctors and arrest the paramedics involved in hooliganism at the facility.
