When the invisible hands of destiny were rewriting the history of South Asia and making appropriate adjustment of geographical boundaries of this region, it was none less would had predicted the future of the region and creation of an independent Muslim state except late Ch Rahmat Ali, who conceived, coined carved, composed consolidated the name of this proposed Muslim state some 14 and a half years before its actualisation.
This was stated by M. Yousuf Aziz , President Pakistan National Movement and former GM /Secretary, PEMRA here on Monday while presiding over a function organised by the PNM at Sultana Foundation to celebrate the 118th birth anniversary of late Ch. Rahmat Ali. SF Chairman Inaam Ghani was chief guest on the occasion, whereas speakers included Muhammad Younus, research scholar of NUST, Nazir Tabassum Gorci, M H Tahir, Ms, Ghazala and Ms. Nafisa of SF, students of various schools and section of SF also attended and delivered speeches highlighting historic role of our stalwarts of the Pakistan movement.
Yousuf Aziz said that right from the war of independence of 1857 up to 1940, some 170 individuals, institutions, organisations suggested division of India to resolve the strife erupting off and on between various minorities and section Indian society. However after the end of Round Table Confer held in 1930-32, when all the delegate were in line with the British to form an Indian federation, It was only Ch, Rahmat Ali, who defied the proposal and reacting wisely enough took the stand that if Muslims were made part of that federation instead of giving them independence and sovereign Muslim state, due to their majority, Hindus will perish them forever by denying their due rights. He said the all stalwarts of Pak- Movement including Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Iqbal D M A Jinnah have put their maximum to the struggle and we respect their valuable contribution to this end.
Chief Guest Inaam Ghani was of the view that the best way to pay homage to all the respective leaders of Pak- movement and particularly Ch Rahmat Ali was to follow the spirit of their thoughts and practices and footsteps for making our homeland a real success and a model state for others. Research scholar Muhammad Younus said that only honest and wise leadership provides an example for our youth, who has to take charge of the future, Other speakers also paid homage to the person and efforts of Ch. R A. Speech contests among the students was also held the winners were awarded prizes.
A resolution was passed urging the government and relevant authorities to bring back the body of Ch Rahmat Ali from Cambridge, and bury his remains at some prominent place in the capital with full national honour and respect.
