Arrangements underway for 2nd phase of LG polls From Our Correspondent HAFIZABAD: District Returning Officer Atta Muhammad Khan Thursday said all possible arrangements were underway to conduct the local government polls scheduled on November 19 in the district in a fair, free and impartial way. Chairing a meeting of the officers of different departments, police, Pakistan Army, and Rangers, he said nobody would be allowed to influence the polls results at any stage. He directed the Returning Officers that their prime duty is to conduct the elections without fear and favour and assured that the Pakistan Army, Rangers and Police would be responsible for the protection and security of the polling staff and election materials and those found creating lawlessness would be taken to task promptly. He said owing to the prevailing political situation, personnel of Pak Army, Rangers and Quick Response Teams would remain in the district. District Election Commissioner Aamir Javed told the meeting that 131 out of 496 polling stations have been declared as most sensitive where special security arrangements have been made for the maintaining law and order under control.
