LAHORE
A group show of four brilliant artists titled "Looking at land," is being inaugurated in the Niarang Art Galleries, Habitat Flats, Jail Road at 5pm on Friday (tomorrow).
The artwork is representation of landscape as an image of the world. The notion of landscape has a wide range of connotations. Michael Turner suggests "Our desire to discover what is hidden speaks to our need to understand how the landscape can be a site of competing perspectives"
Originally, 'landscape' meant a picture of a view. A landscape is 'a portion of land which the eye can comprehend at a glance.
The contemporary understanding of landscape includes the sense of it as 'an ideological tool shaping the way in which we envision and construct the natural world. In these landscapes, four renowned artists of our times, including Zarah David, Zulfiqar Zulfi, Mughees Riaz and Kaleem Khan have created a language capable of recording those sensations we experiment when we observe our environment.
Amna Hussain is the Curator of this artistic prowess of our four famous artists. The group show will continue until 29th of November 2015.
