LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said corruption could be wiped out from the country within a week if the government desires to do so. But how someone could with unclean hands proceed against the corrupt, he asked in a statement on Tuesday.
The JI chief said the only way to end mega corruption in state institutions was to carry out an indiscriminate and across the board accountability. He said those in the government had plundered billions with both hands, and transferred the amounts to banks abroad, which was a much bigger offence.
He said the country had been run by IMF and World Bank loans which had to be returned with heavy interest and the entire burden was being born by the masses.
Sirajul Haq said Jamaat-e-Islami on coming to power, would bring all and sundry to accountability and recover the plundered wealth from them. He said if the masses wanted a solution to their problems, they should elect the honest and dedicated leadership of the JI, failing which, the exploitation of the poor masses would continue.
The JI chief said the political parties which had been in power on turn, would not carry out indiscriminate accountability because they were chips of the same block and all were involved in corruption.
He said if the country’s wealth lying abroad was brought back, the country would not need IMF loans and instead, all welfare and development projects could be completed with our own money.
Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq visited Mansoora Hospital and enquired about the health of former JI information secretary and journalist Safdar Ali Ch. He was accompanied by JI deputy chief Hafiz Muhammad Idrees and other party leaders.
Safdar Ali Ch has undergone minor surgery at the hospital. The JI chief prayed for the early recovery of the ailing party member.
