LAHORE
Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan of the Lahore High Court Tuesday ordered Election Commission of Pakistan to hold re-counting in UC-39 of Lahore within three days and directed a district and sessions judge to monitor the process.
The judge had already stayed announcement of final result in the constituency on the basis of irregularities on part of election staff alleged by defeated candidate of chairman from the constituency. Petitioner Shujauddin Dar of the PML-N had lost election against independent candidate Faisal Ch. Petitioner’s counsel contended that Form-11 had not been filed according to requirement of law as essential information about total number of votes, etc. was missing. Moreover, he said, there was an alteration in column No-6 of the Form without signatures of the presiding officer.
