ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Sharif on Sunday formed a five-member committee, headed by his Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, for finalising reforms in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). A notification issued by the media office of the PM House said the committee will start working with immediate effect. It would take into account views of all the stakeholders and would propose concrete way forward for political mainstreaming of Fata the order said. Other members of the Committee include Minister for SAFRON Lt Gen(R) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Advisor to Prime on National Security Lt Gen (R) Nasir Khan Janjua, MNA Zahid Hamid and Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi. Secretary SAFRON would also serve as Secretary of the committee the notification added. The government included no MP from Fata who are the real stakeholders. The committee is formed in order to win over twelve MNAs from Fata who have submitted 22nd amendment bill providing for merger of all the seven tribal agencies with the settled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This is first time that all the Fata MPs tried to use their parliamentary force by fielding their own candidate against Sardar Ayaz Sadiq apparently in a bid to force the government pass their legislative bill.
