KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, has said that not only Sindh, but the whole country is a stronghold of the PPP.
Bilawal said that the poor, the farmers and the labourers would soon get their rights. He said the local bodies’ elections in Sindh were open to all the political forces and groups, and a level playing field was being provided to all in the province so that true representatives got into the local bodies to serve the people at the grassroots level.
The PPP chairman said this at a meeting with PPP district office-bearers from Tando Allahyar and Hyderabad at the Bilawal House. Chief Minister and Sindh PPP President Syed Qaim Ali Shah, MNA Faryal Talpur, Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Ministers Jam Khan Shoro and Jameel Soomro also attended the meeting.
Bilawal said that some undemocratic forces and their proxies might try to create controversies and hijack the elections. He hoped that the law-enforcing agencies and the administration would foil any attempt to coerce the people.
Bilawal Bhutto asked the administration and the Election Commission to make proper arrangements for the second phase of the LB polls as the people should cast their votes freely. The party representatives of the districts apprised the chairman of the political situation in their respective areas and also discussed organizational matters with him.
The PPP chairman expressed the confidence that the party candidates would win a great majority in all the districts as the people of Pakistan had always voted the PPP whenever they had been given a free and a fair chance to exercise their right of franchise.
