MULTAN: The Mastoi tribesmen, including women and children, on Monday staged a demonstration in front of the press club against police for allegedly siding with kidnappers.
The protesters were chanting slogans against police. They were also carrying placards and banners. The protesters, including Qabool Mastoi, Muhammad Sharif, Khan Muhammad and Phool Muhammad, told newsmen that Arshad Bajwa, Allah Diwaya, Amir Bakhsh, Yousaf Bulhoora and Sooba Dareshak had allegedly kidnapped Qabool Mastoi in September 2015 for Rs 1 million ransom. They further alleged that Jampur police refused to register a case and the SHO demanded Rs 200,000 bribe for recovery of the abductee.
The protesters said that police registered a case against the accused on an order of the Lahore High Court and recovered the abductee. Now, the alleged kidnappers were harassing and pressurising them to withdraw the case, they added.
