Japan is a small country. Out of its total territory, it can use only 27 percent of land for residential, commercial or industrial purposes. The rest of the land is forested, mountainous and unsuitable for agricultural, industrial or residential use. Japan has almost no natural resources, making it the fifth largest importer of the world. It routinely suffers from natural disasters like earthquake, tsunamis, volcanic Eruptions, etc. Their birth rate is the lowest of all countries and their population is literally shrinking.
Despite all these drawbacks they are successful. They have the third largest economy in the world. They rank high on the Human Development Index. Their life expectancy rate is the highest in the world. At the same time, they have the third lowest infant mortality rate. The Japanese have taught the world a valuable lesson: that no matter how few natural resources you have, no matter how many disasters you have to face routinely, no matter how little land you have, you can fight back. And you can prove yourself to be victorious.
