FAISALABAD: Police on Wednesday booked four candidates of chairman and vice-chairman slots contesting from different union councils on the charge of violating the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the Local Government polls.
The candidates violated the rules during their corner meetings in the city. They are Sheikh Muhammad Aslam, a PML-N candidate for chairman slot who was booked for using loudspeaker and delivering provocative speeches during a corner meeting at Chowk 79. The police registered a case against Muhammad Hussain, a PTI candidate for chairmanship seat at City Council 150, for using loudspeaker, delivering provocative speeches and using fireworks during a corner meeting at Razabad. The police booked an independent candidate of UC 157, Chak 275/JB, on the same offence while another independent candidate Ch Muhammad Ejaz was booked for using loudspeaker and attacking a police party during a corner meeting at City Council No 4.
PRISONER DIES: Hussain, a prisoner, who was allegedly involved in Dera Ghazi Khan sectarian case, died when he was being shifted to the Civil Hospital from the Central Jail Faisalabad on Tuesday night. Hussain was ill since long and was being shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.
