Kashmiris observe Black Day

LAHORE
Demonstrations and rallies on Tuesday marked Black Day which Kashmiri Muslims observed to condemn the Indian army’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir Valley on October 27, 1947.
In Lahore, the largest rally among others was taken out by Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir’s Lahore chapter, led by its Ameer Aijaz Ahmad Kiyani. It marched from Punjab Assembly to Lahore Press Club, where it turned into a public meeting where charged workers raised anti-India slogans and waved banners and placards demanding end to 67-year Indian occupation of Kashmir.
Former chairman Senate, Muhammad Mian Soomro was also scheduled to address the rally but he could not arrive due to some urgency. However, the rally was addressed by other leaders, including All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC)’s representative in Lahore, Engineer Mehmood Ahmad, JI AJK Lahore chapter secretary, Syed Abdul Aziz, Jamiat Ittehad-ul-Ulema leader Ehsanullah Tabassum and others. Addressing the workers, the speakers stressed that Kashmiris had been fighting the war of independence not only for themselves but actually for Pakistan, since the country’s existence would never be completed without annexing Kashmir under the division formula of sub-continent, which was also emphasised by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
They recalled that Quaid-e-Azam termed Kashmir jugular vein of Pakistan, and stressed that Kashmir must become part of Pakistan at the earliest. They urged upon the world community especially the Muslim countries to help Kashmiris in achieving their well-deserved freedom by forcing India to hold plebiscite as per UN resolutions to allow the Muslim majority state decide about its future itself.
